Mega oil refining equipment load passing through Plentywood to Canada. February 2, 2009

Controversial mega loads have been passing through Montana for years, hauling heavy oil refining equipment to the equally controversial oil sands pit in Alberta, Canada -- the most toxic pit on the planet. The oil isn't conventionally drilled, but mined, scraped off the surface. Once refined the fuel releases 3x's the CO2 emissions of regular refined oil, polluting rivers and leaving the ground exposed never to be productive again. DK photo's, February 2, 2009. Over 170 feet long, rolling along at 20 MPH on 72 tires. It needs the help of a push truck to get up steep grades.

This particular load weighed in at 900,000 lbs.
